Tent city dwellers face eviction

US 'tent city' dwellers face eviction

High unemployment rates have forced many people in the US to move out of their homes. Some people have set up makeshift homes, using tents as a last resort.

One such community in Rhode Island is being run like a small town, with a committee that votes on how the camp is run. But now the state is trying to evict them.

  1. Can't blame them for living like that. Nothing wrong with it, imo. Cause people are just making the best of it. What I don't understand is why people don't seek goverment housing assistance. And the same answers I hear every year is: "It is too crowded.", "There is no freedom.", or "They limit what times you can come and go." Although all these responses are legitimate but I think it is an excuse, imo. Come on, you lost a lot, I understand but you really have to start LIVING WITHIN YOUR MEANS. Sometimes you are to suck up you pride and obey a time schedule like you are kids back in school. I asked my mom who is a seamtress whether she ever expected to be working in a clothing factory making barely above minimum wage with long hrs when she was in her teens. I ask if she had dreams and what she wanted to be when she grew up. And she did not answer me but acknowledge that she heard my questions. Right there, I knew her answer but she ask always said time and time again that she is happy to support and watch her 3 sons grow up. That is the biggest achievement of her life. So life is about sacrifice, something you have to sacrifice something for the great good.

  3. Great comment.

I really hope the state simply isn't trying to sweep these people under the rug. We all benefited from the culture of excess over the past few years. We should now all work together to support others in need.

BTW, how is it possible for a citizen/taxpayer to tresspass on state land. Don't our taxes pay for that land?

  4. Polanski arrest shows USA owns Swiss!

Does the arrest of Roman Polanski and the turning over of precious Swiss banking records to the Americans (USB) prove that the USA now owns the once sovereign nation of Switzerland?

Could it be that the Swiss, who were becoming bankrupt (again) for bailing out Latvia & other Eastern European debt, sold out when they were bailed out by American tax payer money?
